Basic Concept of the Project

The Project is defined as an exit strategy that involves acquiring external funds such as the Green Climate Fund.

This idea came with the understanding that Cameroon aims, within the framework of its NDC, to "commit, while promoting the sustainable management of the forest ecosystem through REDD + activities in particular, in reducing greenhouse gas emissions of different sectors, including agriculture ". On this basis, it is planned to implement during the implementation phase of this Project, preliminary studies and individual activities, the results of which may be taken into account in the future development of a large-scale program.

The subnational emission reduction program will initially be developed as a subnational Emission Reduction Scenario (hereinafter referred to as "ERS"). This ERS is defined as a political tool to be used at the sub-national level to materialize the SNR. It is a policy document with an inclusive content that includes, in addition to estimating emissions reduction, analysis of drivers of deforestation and countermeasures, safeguards, etc.

Moving smoothly to the design stage of the large-scale program will require knowledge to a certain level and persuasive technical elements. It is for this reason that feasibility assessment activities should be implemented in a Central Region’s AEZ and feedback provided at the central level.

The figure below shows the general progress of the Project.

Feasibility assessment activities consist of activities aimed at increasing total production without increasing agricultural land (deforestation) by increasing yield per unit area such as agricultural products, etc., to assess the feasibility of these activities. Similarly, we will try to introduce agriculture that contributes to the reduction of GHG emissions.
